The project is run by a committee of five volunteers – Debbie Case, Jill D’Olier, Dea Schupbach, Shelan Rodger and Neila Finlayson – and the trustees are Debbie Case, Igal Elfezouaty, Mellisa Keng, Jayesh Sanghrajka and Terry Waihenya.

We have a team of nine who work at the shelter, four of whom are resident on site. All are tremendously dedicated and much of the workload and decision-making is shared.

Joseph
Shelter Administrator/Teacher
Joseph joined us in 2004 as a teacher and was promoted to Administrator in 2005, responsible for day-to-day management and administration. His patience, commitment and unflappability are a great asset to the shelter.

Paul
Matron/Teacher
Paul is a trained nurse and has a Diploma in animal husbandry. He worked in a hospital in the Naivasha area before joining the shelter in 2004. His care and warmth are valued by everyone at the shelter.

Francis a Shelter graduate, has an amazing talent where he can reproduce anything into beads. His amazing flowers, birds, insects, animals sell very well. He teaches this talent to boys of all age at the Shelter and they really enjoy creating.

Francis
Carpentry, computor Teacher
Francis joined the shelter in 2006, having worked in a construction company and taught carpentry at a local polytechnic for eight years. Creative and enthusiastic, he is an important part of the family. He is so proud of his boys.

Jimmy
Chef
Jimmy came to the shelter in 2005 having worked at a hotel in Naivasha - and the boys love him and his cooking! This year we acquired a pickup thanks to Grimbergen Noordermeer and Rotary, Naivasha and Jimmy is also our very proud driver.

Bernard
Assistant
Bernard is a Shelter graduate who decided he wanted to stay on. He assists Jimmy with the cooking, is in charge of the tailoring department and also assists with the role of counselling and social work with the boys. He took it upon himself to take a tailoring course this year and is now making all sorts of things. Pillows at present for the boys.

Peter
Gardener/Watchman
Peter, who used to work at a flower farm on Lake Naivasha, joined the shelter in 2003, initially as one of three security guards. A spate of attacks on the shelter resulted in the resignation of the two other guards and the hiring of a professional security company to protect the shelter but Peter has stayed on as a general handyman, daytime watchman and gardener. His shamba is his pride and joy.
