Zakayo Kimani

He joined the shelter in 2007 from Gilgil Town loitering on the street after running away from home. He is the 2nd born in a family of four.  He is a total orphan and was left under the care of their old grandmother.  The grandmother has been sick for a long time and could not afford to take care of him.  He came to the shelter through the office of Childrens' Department. He has adjusted well to the new enviroment and he takes care of poultry.  He is now fourteen years old.


John Simiyu

He is a short ten years old boy and the second youngest after Chalo.  He joined the shelter from the Safe House in July 2007.  He ran home because of being mistreated by the Stepmother after the death of his mother.  He has shown great interest in learning and can now read, write and speak English.  He likes football.  He would like to be a pilot.


Dennis Wafula
He is an outgoing likeable character who joined in 2007 after being brought by Robert Wamalwa (his Cousin) who is also in Shelter. He had dropped out of school in class two.  He lacked school fees as parent were unemployed.  He likes athletics and football.  He would like to be a pilot bacause it is well-paying.

Francis Wachira

He joined the Shelter in January 2008 from Nakuru.  He had not been enrolled in school.  He has three brothers.  He is an orphan and was left under the care of the Aunt who was unable to cater for his needs. He has Settled well and likes football.  He would like to be a engineer.  He is not fascinated by marriage and would like to be a senior bachelor.


Ian Njoroge

He is a bright and disciplined boy who joined the shelter in 2008.  Ian was living with his grandmother in Londian Rift Valley province.  After the clashes after the disputed elections they were displaced and had to move to Naivasha.  His sister was taken by Naivasha Safe House. The mother is a drug addict and has been in and out of Prison.  She has severally mistreated the boy and other siblings.  Ian is always on top of his class.


Phanuel Amatsili

He joined the Shelter in 2008 after the recommendation of the children officer.  After the death of his mother, the father remarried.  Phanuel was forced to do all the house chores by the stepmother and the father.  He was attending public school and was about to drop out of school due to the situation at home.  He sought the intervention of the Children Officer and was directed to Naivasha Children Shelter.  He has settled in very well and is still attending the public school and is now in class seven.



David Karinge

He joined the shelter in 2008 from Naivasha Streets.  The mother could not afford to feed him and the other two brothers as she is single and unemployed.  He dropped out of school in class four.  He is slowly adapting to the shelter enviroment.


Stephen Nduati

He joined the shelter in 2007.  The father was employed as a security guard in the neighbouring flower farm.  After the father got sacked life became unbearable for Stephen as he sometimes went without food.  This forced him into the streets before being rescued by the shelter.  He has settled well, loves football though now being disturbed by adolescence.
